We are glad to announce that since 2019 we have been helping fight back on the global epidemic of the decreased bee population.
In the past couple of decades, the commercial bee population has decreased by 30%.
Why? The pesticides used to keep the harmful insects away are contaminating the nectar and harming the bees.
Bees pollinate 70% of the fruits and veggies we eat.
How does this relate to craft beer?
Hops and barley are plants that do not need to be pollinated but bees help with many other ingredients that brewers use like:
Mangos
Honey
Peaches
Pomegranates
Strawberries
Apricots
Cherries
Vanilla
Cranberries
Coffee
Lemons
Limes
Oranges
Coconuts
Raspberries
Blackberries
Cocoa (Chocolate)
And many others
How is Hop Passport helping?
We are giving back to local bee keepers in the 14 states we are in. Our goal is to buy 2 hives per state. The average hive houses 10,000 to 60,000 bees. When we buy 28 new hives with an estimate of 30,000 bees per hive we can help increase the bee population by 840,000 in 2019!
We could not do this without your help and your purchasing of a Hop Passport.
What else can you do to help?
Support your local bee keepers and buy from them instead of the grocery store. Also, plant wild flowers at your home so that bees can pollinate them.
